Procedure & aftercare

What happens at your appointment – and afterwards.

Allow about an hour for the first visit. The actual laser time is short; the rest is consultation, preparation and time for your questions.

In short

First appointment around one hour: consultation, photos, test pulse, numbing cream on request, then 10 to 20 minutes of laser. Afterwards two weeks without sun, make-up or exfoliation on the brows. Next session after 6 to 8 weeks.

  1. Before

No sunbeds, no tanning salon and no self-tanner on the face for two weeks before the appointment. On the day itself, come without make-up on the brows. If you take medication that makes the skin light-sensitive (such as retinol or certain antibiotics), let me know beforehand.

  2. Consultation and test pulse

I look at the pigment colour, its depth and your skin type, photograph the starting point and explain what I expect. If you like, I fire a single test pulse so you know how it feels before we begin.

  3. Numbing, if desired

The cream takes 30 to 45 minutes to work. Many people skip it after the test pulse – the decision is yours.

  4. Laser treatment

You wear protective goggles and I trace the microblading stroke by stroke. After 10 to 20 minutes the session is over. The area is red and feels like mild sunburn, which fades within hours to a maximum of three days.

  5. The weeks after

For two weeks no direct sun, no sunbeds, no make-up and no exfoliation on the area. Don't scratch if it itches; small crusts fall off by themselves. Drinking plenty of water helps the lymphatic system clear the pigment. After six to eight weeks we meet for the next session.

When you should get in touch

Slight swelling, redness and a feeling of tightness are normal. If an area is still very painful, feels hot or is weeping after three days, send me a photo via WhatsApp straight away. You can reach me between appointments too – for me that's part of the treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the procedure

How long does a microblading removal session take?

The actual laser time is 10 to 20 minutes. Allow about an hour for the first visit with consultation, photos and test pulse, and around 30 minutes for follow-up appointments.

Can I go back to work straight after the session?

Yes. The brows are red for a few hours up to a maximum of three days, similar to mild sunburn. Avoid sport, sauna and swimming pools for 48 hours.

Can I put make-up on my brows after the treatment?

For two weeks please no make-up, no exfoliation and no skincare products containing acids or retinol on the treated area. After that you can apply make-up as usual.

Why is a six-to-eight-week break needed between sessions?

The laser breaks up the pigment, but your lymphatic system has to clear it away. That takes weeks. Lasering again too soon irritates the skin without getting you there any faster.
