PicoSure® – the laser I've committed to.
There are cheaper devices. There is none with which I could remove microblading in so few sessions and with so little strain on the skin. That's why this very laser by Cynosure has been in my clinic since 2016.
In short
The PicoSure by Cynosure shatters pigment with picosecond pulses using pressure instead of heat. As a result, microblading usually needs only 3 to 4 instead of 8 to 15 sessions, the risk of scarring is very low and the brow hairs are preserved. The clinic is certified under V-NISSG.
Picoseconds instead of nanoseconds – what that means for your skin
Older Q-switched lasers deliver their energy in nanoseconds. That's fast, but long enough for the pigment and the surrounding tissue to heat up. The PicoSure is around a thousand times faster. The energy arrives so abruptly that the pigment literally bursts – a pressure effect, not a heat effect. For you that means less redness, hardly any crusting, no burnt tissue and practically no risk of scars or light patches.
Because the fragments are smaller, your immune system can clear them faster. Where other lasers need eight to fifteen sessions, I usually manage microblading in three to four.

Since June 2024, laser treatments for pigment removal in Switzerland may only be carried out with proven competence under V-NISSG. My clinic is certified by the Federal Office of Public Health, and the laser is serviced and calibrated regularly. Ask every provider about it – it's your face.

What is the difference between the PicoSure and a Q-switched laser?
The PicoSure delivers its energy in picoseconds, a Q-switched laser in nanoseconds – around a thousand times slower. With the PicoSure the pigment bursts from the pressure of the shock wave; with a Q-switched laser it is heated. Less heat means fewer sessions, less crusting and a significantly lower risk of scarring.
Is the PicoSure suitable for all skin types?
Yes, including darker skin types. Because hardly any heat enters the skin, the risk of pigment changes is low. However, the skin should not be tanned in the two weeks before the session.
Which pigment colours does the PicoSure remove?
The 755-nanometre wavelength works particularly well on black, brown, grey and blue – the colours that almost always occur in microblading. Iron-oxide pigments that have turned reddish sometimes need one session more.
What does V-NISSG mean for me as a client?
Since June 2024, only practitioners holding a V-NISSG certificate of competence may perform laser treatments in Switzerland. That protects you from unqualified providers. My clinic meets the requirements and is certified by the FOPH.
